Christine Leach-Da Cruz so enjoyed the challenge of the removals industry that when the Algarve firm that employed
her was offered for sale – she bought it.
An attractive blonde English mother of two teenagers Christine has lived in the Algarve for twenty years and for ten of those years has worked in the removals business – seven years with the well known UK firm Robert Darvall Lda. and three with 125 Removals the company she now owns. She has also worked in real estate and with computers and therefore is well versed in a variety of aspects that relate to work and life in the Algarve.
Christine was born in Lancaster but when she was twenty she moved to the Algarve with her parents who were looking for a new life in the sun. Like many other newcomers Christine first started working in a restaurant but her talent for figures and public relations was soon recognized by a local businessman and she was hired to work for his estate agency in Portimão (where she still lives). Christine was quick to pick up Portuguese and by the time she was taken on by Darvall she was fluently bilingual.
When Darvall decided to close their Portimão office Christine joined 125 Computers before moving to its sister company 125 Removals. She enjoyed the work so much that when the opportunity arose last November the Lancashire Lass bought the company. Christine says what she likes most about her business is the diversity. “There’s something new every day,” she confirms with a bright smile.
Like most removal firms in the Algarve a lot of the business at 125 involves removals to and from the UK and Spain. 125 networks with reputable agents in both countries but Christine is also eager to promote local deliveries and says that no job is too big or too small.
125 will provide door-to-door service throughout the Algarve and Portugal and Christine assures that there is no limitation to size and that her firm is insured for “every eventuality from collection to destination”. And that means getting the item of delivery to the requested spot – be it an attic, a garage, a warehouse, shop or your living room.
The company also offers on site storage services.
All of the staff at EN 125 are fluent in Portuguese and English. The office is located on the EN 125 (naturally) between Portimão and Lagos. When approaching from Portimão turn off the roundabout just before reaching Odiaxere.
